Smite tactics, now officially going by Hand of the Gods: Smite Tactics has hit open beta. Like with all of Hi-Rez’s other titles, Hand of God will also be free to play.
Hi-Rez is quite well known for their third-person MOBA Smite and their team shooter, Paladins. Smite plays out in the third-person and players don the role of various gods from different cultures; Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Norse, Mayan, Chinese, American and many more. If you’re bored of the usual top-down view of traditional MOBAs, you might want to give Smite a try. You can download the game via Steam as well.
Hand of the Gods: Smite Tactics is a hybrid between a tactics game and a collectable card game not unlike hearthstone or Yu-Gi-Oh! Players make use of cards representing minions, gods, spells and abilities. Minions and gods you play are summoned to the board where you move them around akin to a tactics game.
Like with any other collectable card game there are different types of decks, depending on the God you pick to play as, and you can collect cards as you progress. You can unlock a bunch of cards right away if you just give the open beta a shot.
Hi-Rez is hoping to compete with Hearthstone with this game, just like their team-shooter Paladins is giving Overwatch decent competition. The developer has already announced a tournament for Hand of the Gods with a $50k prize which will take place at the Hi-Rez Expo early in the coming year.
You can download Hand of the Gods: Smite tactics here and start playing right away.
