Ransomware had been ruining many lives of Internet users around the world and now a new form of ransomware is trying to threaten us, gamers. Ransomware is a highly complicated malicious program that infects the user’s computer and takes control of the computer or the data on it. The program encrypts that piece of data like images, videos and documents and demands a ransom to decrypt those files. TeslaCrypt, a new member in the notorious ransomware gang, targets your game files, putting an end to your happiness.

As soon as TeslaCrypt infects your system, it searches for game files – saved games, maps, replays, configurations, etc. Once it comes across these files, it starts encrypting them, leaving you without any access to them. The only way to can regain access is by using a private key that can be obtained from them after paying a ransom of usually 1.5 Bitcoins or up to $1000 via PayPal.

TeslaCrypt infects your system through spam emails hidden as a downloadable attachment or through a link to a malicious website where the ransomware downloads to your system automatically. It is recommended to install a security software on your system, regularly updating it. You can also make frequent backups of your system. Do not click on unfamiliar websites, ever.
