Ubisoft E3 2017 had a lot of games to showcase but it was quite evident which trailer stole the show. It was obviously Mario + Rabbids. We’re kidding, it was the Beyond Good & Evil 2 and holy sh*t! The first game came out way back in 2003 and it was rumoured that a sequel was in the works, but almost 15 years later we were beginning to lose hope. Boy, are we hyped now. But let’s not forget about everything else.
Ubisoft E3 2017: XCOM Mario, Far Cry 5 gameplay, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and more
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
Shigeru Miyamoto is known for his grand entrances so it was nice that Ubisoft let him do his thing to talk about the Ubisoft-developed Switch game, Mario + Rabbids. The game itself is like XCOM, which we’d never thought we’d see in a Mario game but we’ve gotta say it doesn’t look bad. It’s expected to release for the Switch on August 29.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins
We got a better and more extended look at some Assassin’s Creed: Origins gameplay. We get deeper into it here.
The Crew 2
Ubisoft’s Crew is one of those open world racing games that actually did online multiplayer somewhat decently, despite Ubisoft’s plethora of server problems. Their new open world racing game looks a lot fancier with upgraded graphics. They’re also including more vehicles, even planes!
We got a look at some gameplay for The Crew 2 at E3 which you can check out here.
This was just a weird VR game which featured Elijah Wood. As in he wasn’t in the game, he just introduced it.
Skull & Bones
What if you take the sea stuff everybody liked in Black Flag and removed everything else. Now add some PvP action and boom you’ve gone Skull & Bones. Because PvP Pirate battles are cool af. Now, all we can hope for is that Ubisoft doesn’t botch up with their servers again.
Starlink: Battle of Atlas
This is somewhat interesting, you attach stuff to your controller which shows up in the game. It’s nice and all, but are they going to charge us for the additional toys?
Far Cry 5
We got a glimpse of some Far Cry 5 gameplay as well, featuring Boomer the dog who can fetch you guns and stuff. He’s a “fang for hire”, how does he take his payment? We also got to see some other elements that’ll be in the game, sneaking, scouting, sniping, flying planes (Death from above!) and more.
Beyond Good & Evil 2
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is set as a prequel to the first game and it was easily the highlight of Ubisoft’s conference. 15 years in the making, Michel Ancel had been working on the game for ages but we hadn’t any news on it for years. We’re not expecting the game to release anytime soon, not even next year for that matter. But it is good to know that it’s a thing and it’s happening.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
Self-explanatory, or rather, it would be hard to explain this one. Here’s the new trailer, enjoy.
Stay tuned for more from E3!
