Good news for all you long-time Tomb Raider fans out there, a Tomb Raider 2 fan remake is in the works and already has a playable demo. The Dagger of Xian demo contains about an hour’s worth of gameplay and you can check it out right away.

Tomb Raider 2 fan remake

The Tomb Raider 2 fan remake has been in development for quite a while now, and finally, there’s now a demo to show for it. The Tomb Raider 2 fan remake is being created by Nicobass and a small team of contributors. The demo itself features some portions of the Great Wall level and should give you at least an hours worth of gameplay.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a video from Nicobass‘ channel.

If we had to describe it in one word we’d have to say it looks amazing. This is a great approach to take for classic games that people steer away from because of dated graphics. The best part is that Crystal Dynamics is reported ok with the fan remake, so we don’t have to worry with the “Cease and Desist” bomb dropping on the remake in the near future.

In case you want to try the demo out yourself, these are the specs you’ll be needing.

  • Windows 7 x64 (we don’t know about Win 10)
  • A Dx11 compatible Graphic card
  • 8GB RAM (it should work with 4GB too but 8 is suggested)
  • Up to 6GB of free disk space
  • And you will, of course, need to unzip the compressed file you download, so a software like WinRAR is a must.

You can download the demo here.
