TE Gaming Rig - Coming to a city near you

In order to offer gamers a high-end gaming experience, Taiwan Excellence announced the launch of the TE Gaming Rig and its India tour. Essentially a gaming truck laden with gaming products, the tour starts off at Mumbai and it will eventually journey around the country covering 50 different locations. Journeying through the western, northern, and central regions, the truck will finally return to where it all started which is in Mumbai. It will arrive just in time before the grand finale of the Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup 2017.

The TE Gaming Rig consists of several gaming products including premium gaming laptops packed with the latest 7th Gen Intel Core processors and GTX 10-series graphics cards from NVIDIA. Gamers will be available to board the gaming truck without any fee and simply game on these systems. These gaming laptops have several games installed including CS: GO, Dota 2, FIFA 17, Mafia III, Rocket League, Street Fighter V, etc., to name a few. There weren’t any gaming mice present on the truck, so we aren’t sure whether they’ll be adding them in their next trip. This also means that you won’t be able to play the installed FPS games, unless you have God-level aiming skills on a touchpad. Gamers will be able to only play single-player games on the truck. For a more in-depth look at the truck, you can check out our Facebook Live from the event.

The gaming truck is said to offer people a hands-on experience of gaming products from top gaming brands including Acer, ADATA, Asus, BenQ, Cooler Master, D-Link, FSP, Gigabyte, In Win, MSI, Optoma, Thermaltake, and Transcend. But the only brands we saw in action inside the truck were gaming laptops from Acer, ASUS, and MSI, and gaming headsets from Thermaltake. Although certain brands showcased their latest products at the event, very few of them were operational on the truck. We are looking forward to some high-end products from all the brands finding a place on the truck so that people entering the truck can experience them. The truck will be touring the different locations for almost 100 days.

During the event, we got to have a quick chat with Scott Yang, Deputy Executive Director, Strategic Marketing Department, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). He mentioned the primary motive behind the TE Gaming Rig was for gamers and also non-gamers to experience high-end gaming products. India being the country with a huge youth population, it only makes sense to target them and offer a glimpse into premium gaming products.

Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup 2017

The Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup 2017 will enter its fourth edition this time. While Dota 2 was the only game included in the tournament, this time Counter Strike: Global Offensive has also been added. Scott also talked about how the number of teams participating in the tournament has been rising in every edition, just like the rest of the esports scene in India. This year, they expect around 2,000 participants which is around 500 teams across both the games including CS: GO and Dota 2. Interested teams should register themselves here soon since the offline eliminations begin soon starting in Chennai. The next cities where the offline eliminations will be conducted are Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Delhi, one after another.
