Sony E3 2017 managed to get away with not showcasing anticipated games like The Last of Us 2 and Bloodborne 2 and managed to distract the crowd with Insomniac’s Spiderman. The crowd did later realise that they had been duped, but they really weren’t too disappointed about it after that Spiderman showcase. Sony didn’t have anything “new” to showcase for that matter, just whatever they have planned for the coming year.
Sony E3 2017: Uncharted, Monster Hunter for PC?!, Spiderman and more
Uncharted: Lost Legacy
Uncharted is great, we don’t mind more Uncharted. We’ve already seen some of this game already but a few more trailers don’t hurt anyone. The new Uncharted will star Claudia Black and is set release August 22.
The Frozen Wilds expansion for Horizon: Zero Dawn
The new expansion for Horizon: Zero Dawn is expected to land sometime later this year and has a lot of new customisation features.
Sony’s post-apocalyptic zombie game has you manipulating zombie hordes and mowing them down by the dozen. Doesn’t particularly showcase anything new, but what did they did show was pretty clean.
Monster Hunter World
Set to release early next year, Monster Hunter World might be the first Monster Hunter to grace PC. PC gamers have wanted a game like Monster Hunter for a long time. We’ve had to make do with alternatives that just weren’t quite the same. No confirmed date yet.
Shadow of the Colossus
Shadow of the Colossus is getting a complete revamp for PS4. The project is being headed by Bluepoint and as you can see from the trailer, it looks hella good.
Call of Duty: World War II
The fact that they might have made this decision after the success of Battlefield 1 becomes more evident after looking at the trailer. Looks almost the same. Albeit with Nazis. Set to release November 3.
There was a PSVR showcase featuring SKYRIM(waaat?!), a shooter game called Bravo Team, Star Child, and a thriller called The Inpatient (that’s not a typo). There was also a stand-alone Final Fantasy XV fishing game called Monster of The Deep… Yeaa..
God of War
The new God of War looks epic. The over-the-shoulder view is a fresh look and put you right in there with all the action. The game is expected to release early next year. We take a closer look at the trailer here.
Detroit has you playing as an Android who leads a revolt against the city with other (like-minded?) androids. The trailer looks good though, no idea how it’ll play out.
Insomniac’s Spiderman ended the show for Sony, which also kind of took people by surprise. The gameplay demo was pretty darn cool. There was a mix of action, stealth and QTE mechanics. It was almost like watching an animated episode of Spiderman. We’re just hoping they don’t overdo it with the QTEs.
That’s about all the stuff that happened at Sony E3 2017. Other than that Undertale is making its way to the PS4 and Vita and of course there was a Destiny 2 trailer as well.
Stay tuned for more from E3!
