It’s been almost a year since PUBG landed on the Xbox One, and now it looks like there’s evidence to suggest that the game might be making its way to the PS4.
The evidence in question are the promotional PUBG images that have gone by unnoticed on Sony’s PlayStation servers. According to a user at PSNProfiles.com, the images are linked to a digital game ID code, and are reflected by two types of image logos on the PS4, one representing the game in a user’s library, and the other is the splash screen one would see when the game is loading.
However, searching for the ID code on the PS4 doesn’t bring anything up. This is probably because there’s no information out officially, about release dates or prices.
PUBG debuted on the Xbox One last year in December, and while it enjoys a decent playerbase, like the PC version it too has been plagued with performance issues. If you were to compare this with their direct competition, Fortnite, things don’t look too good for PUBG. Not only does Fortnite have a larger playerbase, they already enjoy a stable 60-fps experience on all consoles it’s playable on, not counting mobile.
It’s also worth keeping in mind how cross-platform went down with Fortnite, with it taking forever for players on PS4 to be able to enjoy cross-platform play with other consoles. It’ll be interesting to see if the same happens with PUBG, or if it will enjoy cross-play right off the bat.
That’s all we know about this for now, but it sure will have a lot of competition on the PS4 with Fortnite and even Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 having a sizeable playerbase.
