The next Battlefield will be Battlefield 1

After releasing teaser images on Xbox Live, EA has made it official with the reveal trailer. The next Battlefield, which is being called Battlefield 1, will be releasing worldwide on the 21st of October for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. And from the trailer, we can see that it’s going in the complete opposite direction from Call of Duty.

While CoD decided to take to space, Battlefield 1 is taking and step back and will be set during World War 1. The game will feature tanks, horses, bayonets, and flamethrowers among others and several battles over land, sea, and air. World War 1 is a setting that hasn’t been touched by too many games, so this is a smart move by EA. Battlefield will, as usual, be focusing on its multiplayer aspect, allowing for large-scale online battles with up to 64 players.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that there won’t be a single player campaign. Players will get to experience World War 1 from the perspective of several different characters. The campaign will feature places such as Arabia, Italy, and France among other places. The aim is realism and they intend to follow the events of World War 1 as it actually happened rather than an alternate version.

EA appears to have teamed up with Microsoft for the advertising on this one, as all the reveal event posters were plastered with the “Xbox One” logo and it was specifically announced that you could play the game first on EA Access and the Xbox.

EA has announced an “Early Enlister Edition” for those who wish to access and play the game earlier than the rest of the world, conceivably by the 18th of October. Among those who may get to experience the game pre-release are also Battlefield Insider and Origin Access members.
