Boss Key’s FPS Team Shooter LawBreakers was pretty good but it kinda flopped. Okay, it definitely flopped, there’s hardly anybody playing. Boss Key recently stated that the game is no longer sustainable with the current state of things, however, they are not giving up on it. They also mentioned that they (the studio) is now working a new project.
The problem with LawBreakers was that despite appearing to be fairly fun, it failed to pull enough gamers to sustain itself. Then there was the fact that the game went from a free-to-play model to purchase-to-play model. The studio has addressed this by stating that “while a pivot to free-to-play may seem like easiest change to make, a change of this magnitude takes publishing planning and resources to do it”.
The studio has worked on the game for over three years now according to the studio, so they’re willing to do what they can keep the game alive, or at least, give it “the second life it deserves.” However, they will also be working on other projects as well.
“We have been working on something new and we can’t wait to share more about it! It’s a passion project that we’re in complete control of,” said the Studio.
The game’s publisher, Nexon, is already well known for publishing several other free-to-play titles, so they shouldn’t have a problem transitioning to the free-to-play model. Also, we thought LawBreakers was their passion project, so we’re curious to see what this new passion project under “fresh creative leaders” will be.
