Sony gives us a more detailed look at Marvel's Spiderman by Insomniac which was first revealed at E3 2016.
It’s been a long while since Sony debuted the first look at Marvel’s Spiderman back at E3 2016. Over the course of two years, especially in the last few months, we’ve had more glimpses and trailers of what the game is going to be.
From the open-world movement to the free-flowing and gizmo heavy combat, to the characteristic humour that is the signature of a good take on the friendly neighbourhood wall-crawling web-shooting superhero, Insomniac seems to have done some really promising work on the game. And at E3 2018, Sony has given us our newest look at the world of this game long in the making. Here’s the trailer:
All the villains!
Things heat up as the trailer begins with the Supervillains that Spidey has put away in his eight years of web-slinging action escape from RAFT, the high-security prison off the coast of Manhattan. We get our first look at Yuri at the beginning of the trailer and also Electro in a new suit, who puts a shock in our web slinger’s plans right from the start. We get a fresh new look at the interesting combat that Insomniac has put into this Spiderman game before moving onto Rhino and Scorpion.
The game has a healthy dose of the signature Spidey humour. And right about when things seem to be going well for our hero, Vulture swoops in before being promptly dealt with by Spiderman. Spidey ends up facing all four of his foes along with Mr Negative and is evidently no match for them before the trailer alludes to a mysterious overseeing villain right before it ends.
A true Spider-man game?
The game will feature a focus meter that lets Spidey heal himself or even pull off extravagant finishing moves. From the detailed look at the game that we got at E3 and whatever we’ve seen so far, developers Insomniac seem to have gotten the feel of a Spiderman game exactly right. This title has been long in the making and from the looks of it, the wait has been worth it. What remains to be seen is how the game deals with its mysterious main antagonist. If anything, this game promises to be Arkham Asylum set to 10x the speed.
The game is set to release on 7th September 2018. You can pre-order now – which gets you an early unlock of a Spidey Suit Pack, the Spider-Drone gadget, skill points to spend immediately on your skill tree, as well as a PS4 theme and PSN avatar.
