IGX Expo and Playmax Esports Arena, Hyderabad, the second one to be held this year, has finally come to a close. Unlike the IGX that happened in Mumbai this November that took place over the weekend, IGX Hyderabad started on Sunday (December 2) and went on until Tuesday (December 4). As a result, the days following Sunday didn’t see as much footfall. Nevertheless, many of the booths were still crowded with people waiting for their turn to game, or trying to win prizes from the on-the-spot quizzes that took place at some of the booths.
Sony’s PlayStation booth still appeared to be the most popular booth at the event, for many reasons of course. They had many of Sony’s latest exclusive titles showcased which gamers were free to try out. There were also many PlayStation VR units for those who wanted to try their hand at that. It was also the first thing you saw the moment you entered Hitex Hall 2, which is where IGX Hyderabad took place. The huge screen showcasing gameplay helped of course. Sony’s booth was one of the few who held quizzes for visiting gamers, giving winners a chance to walk away with Sony PlayStation goodies.
The Playmax Arena was also less crowded today, but there was still a gaggle of dedicated gamers in one corner of the gaming arena gaming away to their heart’s content, be it Counter Strike: Global Offensive or Rainbow Six: Siege (which apparently, has quite the following in India). The stage that was set up near the arena also saw some action, with two teams facing each other on the big stage. The Winter Shield CS:GO tournament finals, hosted by Playtonia, was held in the evening, with invictus facing VROverpowered for the grand prize of Rs.130,000.
At the AMD booth, we still had streamer Ankkita still going at it in PUBG, trying to get that coveted Chicken Dinner with the help of visiting gamers. The AMD booth also featured several laptop models that were equipped with AMD’s latest gen of ryzen CPUs and visitors were free to try them out and get a feel for them.
The WD booth, in addition to featuring several gaming rigs for visiting gamers to play on, were also one of the booths who did quizzes, giving away WD SSDs as prizes.
There were a few other interesting booths at IGX as well, many featuring VR and additional gaming peripherals you wouldn’t otherwise get your hands on.
Many of the cosplayers from yesterday were back as well, with a few new ones showing up today.
And that wraps up the IGX Expo and Playmax Esports Arena Hyderabad 2018, which was a part of Indiajoy, a digital media event undertaken by the govt of Telangana. Of course, if you’re a gamer, there’s still more to be had from Indiajoy, with the NGDC (or the Game developers conference) starting today (December 4), and also Unite starting tomorrow (December 5).
We’ve seen two IGXs this year, who knows, next year we may even see three!
