Fortnite Season 5 is upon us and as it turns out, one of the best things about Fortnite is how they change things up every season.
In Season 5 we’ve got new toys, an all-terrain golf cart of sorts, two new locations, and of course, the space-time rifts.
Epic has been leading up to this moment for a while now. A few days ago we had the in-game rocket launch which ended up apparently cracking up the sky. The the big burger statue in the game disappeared and showed up in the California desert. The real california desert mind you. Then there’s the Fortnite llamas that somehow made their way to cities like Paris and Cologne. Then there was all the weird stuff appearing and disappearing from the game, like a carriage from the olden times for the former, and the Tomato Town mascot for the latter. The conclusion was that it was probably the space-time rifts that were showing up all over the place post the rocket launch.
Well, it’s finally here though, Fortnite Season 5 is upon us and might just be the biggest patch yet. There’s time rifts on the ground now which instantly teleport you into the sky. Great for making a getaway, or getting a better view. Oh and there’s finally vehicles, the kind that will actually work, in the game in the form of All Terrain Karts. The Karts have interesting mechanics of their own, allowing passengers to contribute to the ride as well. Also, for some reason, roofs act as bounce pads for the karts.
Finally, there’s two new locations on the map. Anarchy Acres is now Lazy Links and the south-eastern part of the map that used to be Moisty Mire is now Paradise Palms, a desert zone.
Also, for those of you peeved by the double-pump shotgun abuse, it’s been fixed. Oh and, for mobile, auto-fire has been enabled. This basically means simply having the reticle over an enemy within range will cause the weapon to automatically start firing.
There’s a host of other changes as well, and we’re sure there will be more to come. You can read the entirety of the Fortnite Season 5 patch notes here.
