Fallout 76 dataminers discover new perks in files

The Fallout 76 beta was here this Wednesday (wee hours of the morning), and data miners were at it again, digging into the files to see what more they could learn about the game. Well, they did indeed uncover some interesting perk cards, which we haven’t seen yet, and it looks like some of them actually reward living a life outside of the law.

Data-mining is pretty common in the video game industry, especially with games that are frequently updated, to get an insight of what’s coming to the game before the announcement is actually made.

Now we should keep in mind that not everything that’s contained in the game files necessarily makes it into the game. It’s not uncommon to find files that were intended to be put into the game but were never implemented or were shelved due to whatever reason.

There were a bunch of interesting cards that stood out, such as one called Outlaw, which reduces the bounty timer on whoever has the perk by 20%, 40%, and 60%. Fallout 76 utilizes a bounty system, wherein if you kill another player, you’re marked on the map for everyone else to see, so that they can hunt you down and claim your bounty. This perk seems to be aimed towards those who might want to indulge in some PvP outside of PvP arenas. There was another perk to seemed geared towards the baddies, this one going by Wrecking Ball. This gives you a damage bonus vs workshop objects, for when you want to vandalize someone’s base. This is just a few of them.

More perks like Penetrator, Lucky Break, Frayed Genes, Fix It Upper etc, all of which sound quite interesting, were found in the files. You can sift through all of mined perks on Reddit here, or take a look at the original on pastebin.
