Shadow of the Tomb Raider was described as the title that will make Lara Croft into the Tomb Raider that ‘she’s destined to be’. The game is set in South America and begins with Lara Croft trying to regain control over an aircraft as it plunges to its destruction in a dense rain forest. Essentially, the game begins like most other titles in the series pitting Lara against the elements and against powerful enemies. That would be Trinity.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider plot
Lara is naturally outgunned and outnumbered against Trinity so she has to resort to guerilla tactics for most of the single player campaign. The jungle is set to be brutal and perilous like the Amazon and hence, Lara with her limited resources will be forced to be ‘one with the jungle’. This is how the developers describe the new combat system in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
While there’s nothing new with the system if you’ve played other AAA titles which rely on stealth mechanics, but some of these will be a first for the series. So expect a lot of hiding and silent takedowns to form the bulk of your confrontations.
All new combat system
Aside from the combat system, the developers are also bringing rappelling, wall running and 360-degree underwater swimming as part of the game mechanics. Some of these elements were present in previous titles but were mostly situational.
Rappelling, for example, was part of the intro sequence in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Lastly, the game will also feature one of the biggest hubs to have been created in any of the Tomb Raider games till date.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider release date
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is set for release across all platforms i.e. Xbox One, PS4 and PC on September 14, 2018.
Deep in the suburban jungle roams the only member of the mystical species, Barbarianicus Ass-kick-us. This super awesome creature carries with it the answers to none of life's mysteries. Then what on earth could be so awesome about him? Being able to binge-game for countless hours and exercise remarkable restraint over his penchant for sarcasm around members of lesser species are just some of qualities that make him likeable...really likeable. xD
