E3 2018 : Everything about Just Cause 4

June 12, 2018 — by Mithun "Barbarian_Monkey" Mohandas0

It hasn’t been long since we last saw Rico Rodriguez beating the absolute crap out of Sebastiano Di Ravello in Just Cause 3. And now he’s back in Just Cause 4 to take on the forces of the ‘Black Hand’ led by Gabriella. Finally, we have a female antagonist at the helm of a much more advanced paramilitary force which wields an iron grip over the fictional country of Solis that forms the world for Just Cause 4.

Just Cause 4 plot

Like the previous titles in the Just Cause series, Just Cause 4 has the protagonist Rico Rodriguez coming in to the rescue of the oppressed citizens of Solis. Unlike the previous titles in which the oppressive regime was generally designed to mimic dictatorial governments present in real life, Just Cause 4 brings in an element of surrealism as the enemies are now powered with clocking abilities and high-power beam weapons.

The world of Solis, as the developers describe, will be the largest open-world ever created by Avalanche Studios. From what we gather, there will be some effort to build the world lore and add variety. Given how the previous Just Cause titles felt heavily templatised across the campaign, this would certainly be a welcome feature. There’s a lot more focus on the animal and plant life within the world as well.

Just Cause 4 new game mechanics

Among the new features being incorporated into Just Cause 4 thanks to the new game engine, the weather system stands out the most. Developers have showcased unpredictable sandstorms and blizzards that will completely change a game scenario right in the middle of a campaign mission. These weather elements aren’t simple hindrances that will merely slow down your progress, they’re very disruptive. The storms can tear down trees and destroy bridges, so they’re pretty much a force to reckon with.

The grappling hook which is what makes Just Cause stand out from all the other AAA open world action games is being overhauled to add more customisable elements.

The entire game is being made to be more accommodating of newbies.

Improved AI

The developers didn’t just stop after handing the enemies advanced weaponry and armour but they’ve received AI upgrades as well. Your enemies are designed to keep you on your toes and to make you take innovative methods to gain the upper hand.

We don’t know if the enemies have simply received a larger set of tactics or if they’ve gained learning abilities.

Just Cause 4 release date

Just Cause 4 is set to be released for the PS4, Xbox One and Windows platforms on December 4, 2018.

Deep in the suburban jungle roams the only member of the mystical species, Barbarianicus Ass-kick-us. This super awesome creature carries with it the answers to none of life's mysteries. Then what on earth could be so awesome about him? Being able to binge-game for countless hours and exercise remarkable restraint over his penchant for sarcasm around members of lesser species are just some of qualities that make him likeable...really likeable. xD
