The Dynasty Warriors franchise has been around for a long time; the next title in the main line-up is Dynasty Warriors 9 (Yea, that long). And that’s not even counting the spin-offs and titles not part of the main line-up. You’ve definitely at least heard of Dynasty Warriors, even if you’re a PC gamer. Unfortunately, we PC gamers haven’t had an official Dynasty Warriors game to play. The good news is that will soon change. An announcement by Koei Tecmo a few days ago has confirmed that Dynasty Warriors 9 will release for PC as well.
The announcement came alongside confirmation that the game would release on Steam as well. Another thing mentioned during the announcement was the introduction of 2 new characters to Dynasty Warriors already vast line-up. There were well over 80 characters that made an appearance in Dynasty Warriors 8 and they are all slated to return in the Dynasty Warriors 9 as well.
The two new characters being introduced to the game are Man Chong from the kingdom of Wei and Zhou Cang from the kingdom of Shu. While the former is a brilliant general and tactician, the latter is an agile warrior with heaps of stamina.
Here’s what Koei Tecmo had to say in regards to the “rebirth” of the Dynasty Warriors, which will now feature an open world to explore:
“Whether players choose to follow the main storyline quests or spend time exploring the vast natural wonders of China—from the lush cedar woods and bamboo forests of Chengdu to the legendary Great Wall—the ongoing war will continue to rage along their journey”.
“Skirmishes, clashes, special side missions, and larger scale conflicts can be engaged at the player’s will as they venture through far-reaching lands, allowing for a sense of freedom of choice for the player previously unfelt in previous Dynasty Warriors titles.”
We still don’t know when exactly the game is releasing on PC, but at least we do know for sure that it is happening. There’s no Steam page for the game yet either, but you can read more about it here.
