Divinity: Original Sin 2 was one of the best games of 2017, even though it had its flaws, it was a thoroughly enjoyable game. You can read our review for it here. But that’s not what we’re talking about here. Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is out now, as a free update on PC if you already happen to own the game.
The update comes alongside the game’s release for consoles, so while they haven’t actually played the game at all, there’s something in here for PC gamers to return to the game as well. The 8.2 GB Definitive Edition update has quite a bit of new content in it, with Larian promising “approximately 150,000 new rewritten words”. There’s a lot of focus on the third act of the game, which many complained was too bland and rushed. Additionally, there are new areas in the game as well, new fights, improved performance, and even a new story difficulty, that speeds up the story pace while still providing a challenge. This basically means that increasing the difficulty won’t mean that it’ll take you over a year to kill one boss.
The new launcher will allow you to choose between the Definitive and classic versions or editions of the game. However, your classic saves will not be compatible with the definitive edition, and vice versa. Understandably so, since the difference between the two is quite significant.
We’re definitely looking forward to going back to the world of Divinity and Rivellon in Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition.
