Dauntless, the co-op boss battle RPG will enter open beta on May 24 as announced by developer Phoenix Labs. The game’s closed beta is already underway, and more than 100,000 players have taken part in it so far. As for the upcoming Dauntless open beta, the studio announced that around 700,000 have signed up for that.
Dauntless takes place on the Shattered Isles, a land overrun by beasts of enormous scale. Players take on the role of hunters who hunt these beasts down, and use their skin, bones, scales, etc etc to craft weapons and armour to take on stronger beasts to craft even better weapons and armour. You get the idea. You’ve also probably realised it sounds very similar to Monster Hunter. That’s because it is. It’s pretty much the same format, but Dauntless looks quite promising and even might offer it’s own unique take on the genre.
As mentioned by the CEO Jesse Houston, the game has been in development for more than four years, and the team is excited to have everyone join them on the Shattered Isles to take down behemoths. If their endeavor is anything like Monster Hunter: World, we’re already sold, especially since it’s available on PC already.
You can sign up for the upcoming open beta here. If you can’t wait until May 24 to play the Dauntless open beta, you can purchase the Dauntless Founder’s Pack to gain access to the closed beta right away, in addition to in-game perks such as a title, forum icon, consumables and more.
