The Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay reveal had almost 500,000 people watching. That’s almost half a million people watching. If you’re reading this you’ve probably watched the gameplay video. And also like us, you would have noticed that the screen seemed quite cluttered up. There were a lot of HUD elements floating about. If you’re not a fan of that, you might have been put out a bit. But no worries, CD Projekt Red says that most of the HUD elements in the game will be optional.
In a game like Cyberpunk 2077, a HUD makes sense, considering you have all sorts of augmentations for your eyes and such, as shown in the game. However, that doesn’t mean you want it littering your screen. Also, we were a fan of the damage numbers flying about in the video. Thankfully, you will be able to remove those damage numbers, among other things, in the game. This is according to Sardukhar, a mod on the game’s official server.
Sardukhar eventually updates the same with a reply from the developer community lead Marcin Momot. It stated that a lot of the HUD elements in the game, damage numbers included, will be optional.
He’d actually responded in a very similar fashion to a tweet that was about the same damage numbers.
We are planning on allowing players to turn off/on a lot of the HUD elements.

While having a spruced HUD is nice and may actually add to the immersion in a game like Cyberpunk 2077, we totally get why people might not want to litter their screen up too many elements. Many people prefer to play games with little to no UI or HUD as it boosts immersion. Especially when they’re going all out in that aspect; a game with no loading screens, what!
Way to live up to the hype CD Projekt Red.
