DreamHack, the Swedish production company that specializes in esports and other gaming ventures launched its first ever Mumbai event today.
Today was day 1 of three-day DreamHack Mumbai event. Like with most gaming events, the venue had plenty of booths showcasing some of the new gaming tech from event partners like HyperX, Corsair, and Alienware. One notable mention among the booths that stood out was a mind controlled football game and some other VR based games. Visitors were able to try the latest in gaming tech and gadgets through exclusive expo zones at the event. The event also featured a retro zone, featuring arcade machines with classic games for the visitors to relive their nostalgia.
The gaming festivities come to Asia
Apart from the various expos and gaming zones, DreamHack Mumbai was also host a lot of gaming tournaments which included popular titles like DotA 2, CS:GO, and KO Fight Nights (a Street Fighter championship) along with a Mobile Cricket event. The combined prize pool for the event is a whopping 1 crore, and many professional international teams such as Mineski and Bravado among others are in the country to participate.
The Northeast E-Sports Championship by Nodwin Gaming was particularly a highlight of the event. DreamHack is also a great opportunity for visitors to have one on one conversations with International Players. Interested attendees can also check out the various esports merchandise like the DreamHack or ESL printed T-shirts and more.
Bring your own computer
DreamHack is known worldwide as a LAN party, and no LAN party is complete with a BYOC (Bring your own Computer). There was a designated BYOC section where visitors could bring and setup their own PCs. There was also a Premium BYOC section which offered some free catering services to players. Visitors showed up in groups representing their own clans, colleges, or teams. There will be BYOC tournaments across the three days across different games. There was also a separate streamers area for the aspiring streamers to stream and showcase their skill to the attendees live.
Apart from these, there’s a cosplay competition which will take place across the three days where cosplay artists can showcase their talent to win from a prize pool of 5 lakhs. The judges of the cosplay included popular international cosplay artists such as Cinderys, Han Jones, and Lily on the Moon.
