SirVival – iOS and Android – Review

April 15, 2016 — by Anusha "Trillian" Sinha0

SirVival is about those glorious old times of knights and knaves; of donkeys, dungeons and dragons. In SirVival, you don the armour of the titular character and fight countless enemies in order to rescue the damsel-in-distress and also person named after food, Princess Parsnip from the clutches of Maelstrom the Malevolent, a fearsome dragon. Your lance is fitted with a boxing glove, rather anachronistically, and your horse is called Tantrum. There is a host of other absurdly, and sometimes, alliteratively named characters that you shall come across on your way.

SirVival is an endless runner with only two control buttons, one to jump and one to charge at enemies with the lance the protagonist is equipped with. The game appears to be quite simple and only requires you to time your jumps and punches perfectly. The back story is depicted through beautifully illustrated panels and this attention to detail is evident throughout the game. The soundtrack is a rollicking, jolly tune which could very well have been picked out on a bard’s harp in a tavern in some faraway land.

While almost every second game on the Play Store is a runner of some sort, SirVival stands apart because of how well it has been executed.

Anusha Sinha was a harmless little Clefairy before she read Crime and Punishment. Now she thinks she is some sort of extraterrestrial ninja. She is an expert in the arts of mosquito-racquet wielding, being a silent grammar Nazi and karate. She spends her time contemplating the greatness of Miniatur Wunderland and the transient nature of human life, in equal measure.
