Lane Racer Review – iOS and Android

March 19, 2016 — by Anusha "Trillian" Sinha0

Lane Racer is yet another endless runner on a road. It features the same kind of crisp, chunky animation in colours that pop like in Crossy Road or Pako. In this game, you guide a tiny car on a road that twists and turns and sometimes disappears altogether, leaving only a tiny ramp for you to jump on.

Lane Racer is definitely more difficult than Rolling Sky, although it does offer more variation as the levels are procedurally generated in this one. There are a lot of obstacles to keep in mind while playing this game. There are around 5 lanes at any given point of time and many of them lead to dead ends. At no time can you simply switch into a lane and rest at ease as the next hurdle is just seconds away. One interesting feature of this game is the multiplayer option. You can race against the ghost of other players from all around the world on the same track. However, this feature is a little buggy as the controls freeze sometimes. The in game store features many different cars and these can be purchased with the coins you collect on the track. However, these vehicles display none of the ingenuity which we have come to expect from similar games – remember Unihorse or Specimen 115 from Crossy Road? Lane Racer also suffers from thee lack of any soundtrack at all.

Anusha Sinha was a harmless little Clefairy before she read Crime and Punishment. Now she thinks she is some sort of extraterrestrial ninja. She is an expert in the arts of mosquito-racquet wielding, being a silent grammar Nazi and karate. She spends her time contemplating the greatness of Miniatur Wunderland and the transient nature of human life, in equal measure.
