An arcade fight fest

Dan the Man is a reiteration of the quintessential retro platformer and will definitely remind you of Mario. The game has been created by Halfbrick Studios, which you might recognise as the creator of Jetpack Joyride, Monster Dash and, the go-to game for entertaining small children, Fruit Ninja.

Like all the others, this game too has the characteristic pixelated graphics and polish of all the games made by Halfbrick. Unsurprisingly, the game features a man called Dan who is also a ninja. You can also play as Josie the woman. Both characters sprint across rooftops and clouds in order to defeat the evil army that has taken over most of the village. The controls are quite precise and Dan the Man is a game you will be good at if you have ever played Mario or any other platformer, for that matter.

Dan the Man

Unlike a particular class of mobile games that just raise the difficulty in order to keep the player engaged in an otherwise simple game, Dan the Man is easy, but has a tonne of content that you will love mastering. The pixelated graphics will bring to mind long- forgotten days from your childhood when you used to play Mario on your beast of a rig. The gameplay is pretty basic and there is nothing new here except the variety of weapons that you will come across. In higher levels you even get costumes and the option to customize your character. The weapons range from shuriken to rockets and katanas.

There are ads in this game too, but viewing them is a choice left to the viewers. Certain statues when broken will yield coins and also unlock an ad. If you need the money, you should break these statues but if you prioritize an ad-free experience, just walk right past them. There is a paid premium version available but it seems that this does not give you access to other upgrades that you will have to pay for again. In conclusion, Dan is the Man and so are you.
