Cavefall: Endless Adventure game review – Android & iOS

October 5, 2017 — by Anusha "Trillian" Sinha0

Cavefall is a pixelated adventure about an explorer who prefers to dive into caves for science rather than making a calm and reasoned study of the subterranean. This gutsy character slides down using a pickaxe on the walls of the cave and propels himself towards the other wall to avoid icicles and bats in the way.

The storyline is pieced together using scrolls that the explorer finds hidden in the recesses of the cave. According to the scroll, a few scientists came to explore Antarctica and never really left.

The best thing about Cavefall is the retro graphics. The way this game looks and feels will take you right back to the Dave days. However, the game only looks ancient. The controls are super responsive, allowing you to dodge icicles even when you’re a second away from being impaled on them. If you’re brave and do not particularly care for the native species of the places you are exploring, you can hack away at the animals in your way. Alternatively, if you want to just slip by unnoticed, you can jump around them and keep sliding. Killing them in quick succession creates combos which will increase your score.

There are four of these caves, each with its own set of weird and dangerous creatures. There are a number of power-ups that can tweak your game in interesting ways.

The soundtrack is appropriately chill-inducing. It will make you feel like you are getting closer to hell. The game is immersive because of how quickly you will learn it and also because of the graphics. It is easy to get lost in the experience of falling into the abyss and it may soon become for you what knitting is to old ladies on the train. Play Cavefall for a great falling experience. The fall may be endless, but so is the fun!
